Lightning F.3 XP743 at Wattisham, October 2012; Ken Hayward

XP743 first served with 56 Sqn from 1964 until 1969, then transferred to 29 Sqn, where she served until 1975. After retirement, she went into storage initially, then was eventually sold for scrap.

The nose was allocated to 351 Sqn ATC in 1982 and was with them for a long period of time. The ATC began a restoration but she was later moved to Wattisham Station Heritage under new ownership with Ken Hayward. Ken was after a few bits and bobs to complete the nose section - a pitot probe, access ladder, and control column. If you can help, please get in touch with Ken via email (remove the .no.junk.mail part of the address first).

After many years on loan to the Wattisham Station Heritage, Ken moved the cockpit in March 2022 and placed it on loan to the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum.
