Blackburn Buccaneer - Survivor 414
S.50 414 - SAAF Museum, SAAF Swartkop, Pretoria, South Africa
Buccaneer S.50 414 at Swartkop, September 2012; Johan Conradie
There are two SAAF Buccaneers at Swartkop of which 414 is the lucky one, on display inside a hangar.
The airframe is in great condition with several items on show with it that are associated with the Buccaneer during their service on 24 Squadron.
Since 2012 when the above photo was taken, many more additional items have been added to the display.
During an open day at the museum in 2019, 414 was visited by many people and since the cockpit was opened up many of the visitors took the opportunity to sit in the cockpit with former 24 Sqn members at hand to answer questions and provide information.
The aircraft is lovingly looked after and is occasionally washed by students of the Wits University in Johannesburg.
