Blackburn Buccaneer - Survivor XX892
S.2B XX892 - Privately Owned, Lincolnshire

Buccaneer S.2B XX892 at Perth, 7th July 2021; Ben Sadler
XX892 was delivered to the RAF on 14th August 1975. She entered service with 237 OCU at RAF Honington, coded FC, and stayed with them until the mid 1980s when she transferred to 208 Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth, coded 892.
In late 1990 she was given an overall desert sand paint scheme and flown to Saudi Arabia to take part in Operation Granby, the liberation of Kuwait. She was coded I and given the name 'Glen Lossie', and ended up wearing 8 mission symbols.
Retired in 1994 and scrapped at Lossiemouth, the nose was originally bought from the scrapyard with the intention of making it the focal point of a new Garden Centre. However, the plan fell through and the nose section moved to a paintball site in Perth. Thankfully she didn't become a target and could be found within the 'Puzzle Zone' on the site, and was looking a bit of a sorry sight as you can see from the above photos.
In 2021, the cockpit changed hands to a private collector who had the cockpit road moved to the Moray area in December for temporary storage, before being moved in 2022 to its new home at a private location in Lincolnshire. Since arriving at its new home, XX892 has been treated to a wash, and although the paintwork has substantially faded, it is still in very good condition! This is just the start of what is going to be a large restoration project.
