Canberra TT.18 N76764 at Falcon Field, 24th July 1999; Phil Rawlings

WK142 was built by Avros at Woodford as a B.2 and was delivered to the RAF in October 1954, soon entering service with 115 Squadron at RAF Marham. She later served with 207, 90 and 98 Squadrons before storage at 5 MU, Kemble.

In September 1969 she was transferred to the Royal Navy's Fleet Requirements Unit at Hurn - their only B.2 - and was flown until mid 1972, before being delivered to Samlesbury for conversion to a TT.18. She was back in the air as such in October 1974, first with MoD(PE) for some trials and then back to the RN's FRADU at RNAS Yeovilton. She remained with them until April 1992, when was retired into storage at RAF St. Athan.

Put up for disposal by auction in 1993, she did not sell, but soon after was acquired by a US-based collector who sold her on to Bill McCoy who had her returned to airworthiness and flown to the USA as N76764 in September 1995. She was based at Phoenix Field in Arizona for some time, but by the early 2000s she had ceased flying once more. Placed on loan to the Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force at Mesa for a while, she has since moved - in October 2018 - to the Pima Air & Space Museum at Tucson. She remains in storage there, partially assembled.
