Fairey Gannet - Survivor XG789
AS.1 XG789 - Air Museum, Moorabbin, Victoria, Australia
Gannet AS.1 XG789 at Moorabbin, March 1999; Kieran Maher
Poor old XG789, as you can see, lookd to be in a right state; aircraft don't normally get in this condition by neglect so I was hoping it was an indication of a repaint in progress - well, eventually, it was. A full five years after this photo was taken, the aircraft was looking almost exactly the same as pictured but finally the paintbrushes came out and by 2007 she was wearing a proper paintjob though her canopies are now painted white - presumably they were clouded over anyway.
