Hawker Hunter - Survivor XL564
T.7 XL564 - Privately Owned, South Molton, Devon
Hunter T.7 XL564 at Norwich, 1st April 2015; Richard E Flagg
Suffered a throttle restriction ten miles out from Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. The pilot declared an emergency and returned to Boscombe Down. The aircraft failed to make contact with the runway and both crew ejected when it was 2,000 - 3,000ft along the runway. It crashed onto the airfield and caught fire with the crew slightly injured.
The cockpit still survives, although in an incredibly poor condition which can be seen covered in tarpaulin thats been shredded to pieces. However the tarpaulin doesn't actually cover up the cockpit and so has been open to the elements for years.
