Hawker Hunter - Survivor WP185
F.5 WP185 - Paul & Andy Wood (stored), Great Dunmow, Essex
Hunter F.5 WP185 at Abingdon, May 1991; Alan Allen
WP185 started life with 1 Squadron at Tangmere, moving onto 34 and later 208 Squadron.
In 1958 it ceased to be used operationally and ended up as an instructional airframe at RAF Kinloss with No.45 MU, she was given the serial 7583M. Once Kinloss had finished with WP185, she was moved to the RAF Museum, London in 1973 for display. Just over 10 years later, the RAF Museum got a hold of an FGA.9 which replaced WP185. The airframe was then moved and placed on gate guard duties at Abingdon in 1989, however, she didn't stay there very long. In 1992, WP185 moved into private hands who transported it to Great Dunmow in Essex where she has been stored ever since.
