Hunter F.58 N334AX at Hamilton, ; Ian Russell

First built as an F.6, XE527 was taken on by the RAF in 1956, however, by the following year, XE527 had undergone conversion to an F.58 at St Athan, and was later exported to Switzerland.

The airframe was taken on by the Swiss Air Force, now under the serial J-4006, where it flew a successful career until 1994 when it was struck off charge. In 1995, the aircraft flew back to RAF Lyneham for storage and disposal.

J-4006 was acquired by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Mount Hope. The aircraft was disassembled at Lyneham and transported by a Canadian C-130 to the museum in the latter part of 1995. By the following year, J-4006 could be seen proudly on display, undercover at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. In the early 2000's, it is noted that J-4006 was placed on loan to the Northern Lights Demonstration Team who operated Hunters at the time. The team later went on to operate L-29 before, with J-4006 being acquired in 2010 by ATAC based at Newport News who operate Hunters as part of a training program.

Later in 2010, ATAC placed the airframe on the civil register as N334AX and was painted in a wraparound grey scheme, receiving a certificate of airworthiness a little later. It is understood that N334AX is still operated by ATAC to this day.
