XX738 was first flown as a GR.1 on 9th September 1974 and entered service with 6 Squadron (uncoded, with 738 on the nose gear door). She was returned to BAC as G-27-329 in April 1979 and loaned to the Indian Air Force (as JI016) as part of the deal to sell Jaguars to the IAF.
She returned to the RAF in April 1984, and joined 54 Squadron (coded GJ) at RAF Coltishall. By 1995 she was coded GG, and by 2003 she had lost her overall green/grey camo and gone grey. By 2005 she had returned to 6 Squadron, moving from Coltishall to Coningsby in 2006. Her final flight was on 18th May 2007, a couple of weeks before the squadron disbanded, being flown into RAF Cosford.
XX738 was initially used for live taxiing as part of marshaller training but is now relegated to static instructional duties.
