Jaguar GR.1 XX958 at Pembrey Ranges, 4th August 2024; ZM Aviation

Built as a GR.1 and first flown on 7th October 1975, XX958 was delivered to RAF Bruggen on 24th October 1975, entering service with 14 Sqn, coded AH. She was transferred to 17 Sqn, coded BK, in December 1983.

Her active life was a short one, being retired to storage at RAF Shawbury in March 1985. In 1990 she was chosen for use as a ground instructional airframe and moved to No.2 School of Technical Training at RAF Cosford where it remained for several years, and could often be seen on static display at the airshows.

In 2019, XX958 was sadly stripped for spares and relocated to the Pembrey Ranges to replace XX962 which was scrapped the same year.
The image above shows that the airframe appears to be in a sound state with little corrosion, but will slowly deteriorate as each year passes.
