SEPECAT Jaguar - Survivor XZ104
GR.3A XZ104 - DSAE, RAF Cosford, Shropshire
Jaguar GR.3A XZ104 at RAF Cosford, 9th June 2024; Jake Wallace
First flown on 25th February 1976 and delivered to the RAF in March of that year. She entered service with II(AC) Squadron at RAF Laarbruch, coded N. She was selected to receive a commemorative paint scheme (black fin with large squadron badge) to mark the squadron's 76 years of service shortly before disbandment (as the squadron was to re-equip with the Tornado). She was then converted to a GR.1A and in May 1989 returned to service, this time with 6 Squadron at RAF Coltishall, coded EE.
By 1997 she had moved to 41 Squadron, coded FM, and remained with them until retirement (though with short breaks for conversion to GR.3 for instance). XZ104 was then delivered to DARA St. Athan on 11th July 2005 for spares recovery before being transported to DCAE Cosford for ground instructional duties on 27th October 2005. She has remained there ever since.
The photo above shows XZ104 on display at the RAF Cosford Airshow 2022, where she was exercising her hydraulic systems (undercarriage, refueling probe, etc) throughout the day.
