SEPECAT Jaguar - Survivor XZ374 (9005M)
GR.1 XZ374 - RAF Spadeadam (gate guard), Brampton, Cumbria
Jaguar GR.1 XZ374 at RAF Spadeadam, 9th August 2023; RAF Cosford
First flown 9th December 1976, XZ374 was delivered to 20 Squadron at RAFG Bruggen (coded CA) but enjoyed a fairly short career, as the Squadron re-equipped with the Tornado in June 1984.
XZ374 was accordingly retired to storage at Shawbury in August 1985. By October 1989 she had moved the short distance to Cosford to become an instructional airframe and has been there ever since. At some point she has had her fin swapped with another jet, this one being coded JC and having hard-edge camouflage rather than the soft-edged finish she wore in frontline service.
Once Cosford no longer had a use for XZ374, she was placed into outside storage, before later being gifted to RAF Spadeadam where she is now on gate guard duties, and will presumably remain there for the foreseeable future.
