SEPECAT Jaguar - Survivor XZ383 (8901M)
GR.1 XZ383 - Yorkshire Air Museum, Elvington, North Yorkshire
Jaguar GR.1 XZ383 at Yorkshire Air Museum, 23rd September 2023; Jake Wallace
First flown on 11th March 1977, XZ383 was delivered to the RAF on 19th April 1977 and entered service with 14 Squadron, coded AF, at RAFG Brüggen. She took part in the 1984 Red Flag exercise in the USA, the last before the squadron re-equipped with the Tornado. In 1985 she was transferred to 41 Squadron at RAF Coltishall, retaining her AF code, but by October 1986 she had been retired to ground instructional use at No.2 SoTT at RAF Cosford as 8901M, and has remained there ever since.
In early 2023, XZ383 was moved into external storage at Cosford alongside several other Jaguar airframes, before she was put up for disposal and acquired by the Yorkshire Air Museum (YAM). XZ383 arrived at YAM in early August 2023 and was soon reassembled - a great addition to the museum! A visit in September that year, found the aircraft looking rather tatty with one rather shiny panel on the port side. Hopefully, she will be polished up in good time, making her look the part once again.
