First constructed as a GR.1, XZ391 made its first flight in June 1977, serving with 31 Sqn, 54 Sqn, being converted to a GR.3 by the 2000's.
In 2006, the airframe retired to storage at RAF Shawbury, before being transferred to RAF Cosford in 2007 where it has been used for ground instructional purposes ever since.
