Lightning F.53 53-700 at Gatwick Aviation Museum, 26th June 2021; Jake Wallace
The last ever Lightning off the production line around the 1970s was 53-700. The airframe retired to Warton in in 1986 as ZF589 and was sold to Marine Salvage where to was stored at Stretton in Cheshire around 1997 and was used in the film Wing Commander around the same time. Sadly it was soon scrapped to just a cockpit section and was chopped just below the floor, it was the delivered to Bricket Wood paintball before arriving at Gatwick Aviation Museum.
Today it can be seen on display next to the complete thing, 53-671.
