English Electric Lightning - Survivor XN795
F.2A XN795 - Carl Lamb, Neatishead, Norfolk
Lightning F.2A XN795 at Neatishead, 20th July 2022; Richard E Flagg
Delivered to the RAF in 1963 and retired in 1974, before being transferred to the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PEE) at Foulness Island in 1979. When PEE had finished with the aircraft, XN795 was scrapped but thankfully leaving the cockpit intact.
The cockpit moved to Rayleigh where it stayed for some time before being moved to East Bilney. In 2019, the cockpit was purchased alongside cockpit XS421 by Carl Lamb who moved them to Neatishead in Norfolk. Both cockpits are slowly being cleaned up and restored.
