Hawker Siddeley Nimrod - Survivor XV259
AEW.3 XV259 - Privately owned, Wales area
Nimrod AEW.3 XV259 at Solway Aviation Museum, 7th June 1994; Lorence R Fizia
One of the low-houred MR.1 airframes converted to an AEW.3, XV259 was stored at RAF Abingdon after the project's cancellation and sold for scrap in 1991, with the nose section ending up at Hanningfield Metals. David Price acquired it and drove it north, and after some years on display at the Solway Aviation Museum during which she was smartened up somewhat from the state David found her in, she has moved on again, to a private owner somewhere in Wales. Updates welcome.
