Nimrod Simulator N/A at Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre, 6th June 2021; Richard E Flagg

One of a pair of 'Dynamic Simulators' at Kinloss, by 2012 this decommissioned one of the pair had become just a 9-ton shell with very few instruments remaining and foliage growing out of the windows. Geremy Britton and Sarah Thorpe of the Aircraft Preservation Foundation rescued the remains and spent 8 years sourcing and remanufacturing all the missing parts to rebuild the cockpit section to its former glory, though sadly the bulk of the structure of what was a full motion simulator has been scrapped.

The results are a testament to all the determination, patience, hours, and investment that has gone into the restoration over so many years. In 2020 they chose to have the simulator cockpit placed on display at the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre, a very fitting home as RAF St. Mawgan was home to much of the MR.2 fleet until 1992.

Due to the unfortunate closure of the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre in 2023, the simulator has been relocated to the new technical school based at Exeter Airport, where she will presumably now be used for training purposes.
