Phantom F-4J(UK) ZE360 at Cotswold Airport, 14th September 2024; Jake Wallace

Having survived her time at the Manston Fire Training School in rather better shape than XV411, ZE360 was used for aircrew extraction training and thus had her canopies removed. The cockpits are in very poor condition and as well as a vast amount of the external metalwork with lots of corrosion throughout

However, in 2020 the British Phantom Aviation Group (BPAG) acquired her with the intention of restoring her as she is still relatively intact and deserves to be saved! In August of that year, ZE360 was finally pulled out from where she had been sitting in the grass since 2015 and onto some hardstanding across the road at Manston Airport.

Over the four years that followed, the team of volunteers worked hard and tirelessly to dismantle the airframe sympathetically in preparation for a road move to Cotswold Airport in the near future. As you can imagine, progress in the winter weather was slow and painful, but as of 21st July 2024, she was transported to Cotswold Airport successfully where she could finally be acquainted with BPAG's XT597 and XT905. This now means the British Phantom Aviation Group is now the second-largest F-4 Phantom collection in the world.

You can keep up with progress on the BPAG Facebook page.
