Canberra E.15 WH964 at RAF Cosford, August 1991; Alan Allen

WH964 was built as a B.2 and delivered to the RAF in 1955, serving with 12 Squadron before conversion to B.15 standard and service with 73, 32, 249, and 98 Squadrons. She was finally converted to E.15 standard and served out her remaining days with 100 Squadron. The aircraft retired to St Athan for storage on February 10th 1982.

Two years later she emerged from storage and was transported to the No.2 School of Technical Training at RAF Cosford as 8870M. Once the RAF had no use for the airframe, she was put up for disposal. Following the footsteps of WH957, she was sadly scrapped with the cockpit being saved, being acquired by Phoenix Aviation based at Bruntingthorpe in 1991. The cockpit only stayed there for a few years before being sold to a private collector who moved the cockpit to the Chailey area in East Sussex which is where the nose section of WH964 remains today.
